Wilshere delight at Gunners deal

Arsenal starlet Jack Wilshere believes he is at the “perfect club” after signing a new long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium (Arsenal 6/4 to beat Shakhtar Donetsk).

The 18-year-old made his Gunners’ debut two years ago and, after spending the second half of last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers, has established himself as a regular squad member in Arsene Wenger’s side this term (Arsenal 5/1 to win 2010-11 Premier League).

The talented midfielder has made 12 appearances in all competitions for the north Londoners so far this campaign and has bagged one goal – which came in Arsenal’s Champions League thrashing of Shakhtar Donetsk last month.

The Stevenage-born schemer also made his full England debut against Hungary back in September and was delighted to secure his future at a club managed by one of the best in the business.

“To be offered a new contract means everything to me,” he told Arsenal’s website. “At this point in my career, when I’m only 18 years old and still learning so much about the game and myself, this is the perfect club, the perfect team-mates, the perfect fans, the perfect backroom staff and most importantly, the perfect manager to help continue that.”

Wilshere is regarded as one of the best young players in the country and, along with fellow midfielder Aaron Ramsey, is expected to be part of the club’s future for many years to come.

Wenger refused to reveal the length of his contract but admitted that he was delighted to have secured the services of a player who he expects to have a big influence on how Arsenal perform over the coming years.
