Steelers boosted by Big Ben’s ban reduction

Roethlisberger9381867 300x222 Steelers boosted by Big Bens ban reductionPittsburgh Steelers (22/1 Superbowl XLV Outright Winner) quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has had his six-game suspension reduced to four by the National Football League.

Roethlisberger was investigated and cleared of criminal wrongdoing over allegations of sexual assault earlier this year, but was given the six-game suspension for “detrimental conduct”, according to the NFL.

In a statement today, the NFL said Roethlisberger’s reinstatement is contingent on him “continuing to adhere to the program established by our advisors and avoiding any further violations of the Personal Conduct Policy.”

The Steelers had signed former Jacksonville Jaguars (80/1) signal caller Byron Leftwich to cover during Roethlisberger’s ban but he has reportedly suffered a second-degree sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

Leftwich was hurt in Pittsburgh’s 19-3 pre-season win over Carolina Panthers (66/1) last night but still believes he has a chance of making the Steelers’ regular season opener against Atlanta if he avoids surgery.
