New York Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes says he is looking to make Scotland proud when he steps out in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots on Sunday (Patriots 4/6, Giants 5/2).
The Greenock-born star goes into the match looking for his second Championship ring after playing in the Giants’ last Super Bowl victory which also came against the Pats in Arizona four years ago.
Tybes is one of only three Brits to have owned a Super Bowl ring alongside team-mate Osi Umenyiora and former Pats reserve kicker Scott McCready.
The two sides face off again in Indianapolis on Sunday night and, like six years ago, the Giants are the underdogs against Tom Brady’s (33/1 first touchdown scorer) men. Tynes says it’s a status he says his side are enjoying and that he is looking forward to the experience.
“It is an honour to kind of represent an entire country,” he said. “I know they are all watching and supporting, so that is fun. When you get to this game, you obviously know that people are going to follow and look at you a little bit more closely. I love it. I am really excited to represent Scotland on Sunday.”
