New York Giants offensive lineman Kevin Boothe says the result of Monday night’s game isn’t a foregone conclusion as the Big Blue look to upset the New Orleans Saints (Saints 1/4, Giants 3/1 – match prices).
The result of the Giants’ matches have been tough to call this season, taking control of the NFC East only to let it slip in recent weeks.
Defeats to San Francisco and Philadelphia have seen them slip back in the race to finish top of the division, the Giants (20/1 NFC Championship outright) falling behind the Dallas Cowboys (7/1) in the standings.
The Big Blue now have a tough run-in to contend with, with two games against the Cowboys and one each with the New York Jets and New England Patriots still to come.
First though they head to the Superdome to try and stop the free-scoring Saints, who themselves are facing a tussle with the Atlanta Falcons to claim the NFC South.
The Saints are averaging 31 points a game and lead the whole NFL in yards, Drew Brees having thrown for 3,326 yards to give them a game average of 436.9.
While the Giants have looked good defensively this season they could still have a tough time stopping Brees.
Despite being written off by many, Booth believes there is still everything to play for on Monday night.
“If everything’s chalked up already, what are we doing here?” Boothe asked.
Defensive end Dave Tollefson echoes his team mate’s sentiments, claiming the Giants have what it takes to beat the big teams.
“You’re not just gonna back-door it by beating teams that you should beat. It’s a great position to be in, we got to beat the good teams.”
