Defeated Indianapolis Colts have been installed as Betfred favourites (7/1) to lift Super Bowl XLV following their shock loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
The Colts threw away a 10-0 first-quarter lead to go down 31-17 in Miami as MVP Drew Brees engineered the Saints fightback to secure the first Super Bowl in their franchise’s history.
Brees equalled the Super Bowl record for completions by finding his receivers on 32 occasions as he passed for 288 yards to steal the headlines away from Colts counterpart Peyton Manning.
But the Colts – winners in 2007 – are expected to bounce back next season with the challenge tipped to come from the likes of the Saints (8/1), New England Patriots and San Diego Chargers (both 10/1).
Next year’s Super Bowl will take place at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas although the date has not yet been finalised.
