United handed Midlands trip

Utd Premier League trophy 300x188 United handed Midlands tripPremier League champions Manchester United have been handed a trip to West Brom on the opening day of the season, while new boys Swansea travel to Manchester City (4/1 Premier League Outright).

Despite enduring an uncomfortable afternoon at the Hawthorns last season, United managed to come out on top and will be confident of starting the season with a win having been victorious in seven of their last eight visits to the Black Country.

However, life then gets a bit tougher for the defending champions as they then face two tricky home games against Tottenham (11/4 Top Four Finish) and Arsenal (8/15).

The Gunners open their season against Newcastle before being involved in the first big clash of the campaign, when they host Liverpool in the second week.

Kenny Dalglish’s men will be hoping for a better campaign this time around and start with a home game against Sunderland, before the trip to north London.

As for the Premier League new boys, Swansea (8/15 to be relegated) have been handed the toughest start with their trip to Eastlands, while QPR (13/8) start at home against Bolton and Norwich (8/13) travel to Wigan.

Elsewhere, Chelsea face a tougher opener at the Britannia Stadium against Stoke, Tottenham welcome Everton to north London and Alex McLeish begins his time in charge of Aston Villa with a trip to Fulham.

The opening day also throws up a repeat of the final day of last season, as Blackburn entertain Mick McCarthy’s Wolves.
