British number one Andy Murray (2/5 None – Number Of Grand Slams Andy Murray Will Win In 2010) has revealed that he would like the players to help select the future captain of the Davis Cup team if John Lloyd is axed.
Lloyd’s position as captain has been called into question as Great Britain are close to dropping to the lowest level of the Davis Cup after last weekend’s 3-2 defeat in Lithuania.
And if he is removed Murray (4/1 Men’s Wimbledon 2010 Outright) feels it is only right that the players are consulted on who replaces him.
Britain’s number one said: “The LTA have to decide whether they want to keep John in place.
“But if he does lose his job then I would like to think the players would have a voice.
“I’m not saying players should decide solely on who the captain should be – I don’t think that’s right – but I think the players should have a strong say.”
