Andy Murray is now the 11/4 co-favourite to win the 2010 US Open, which starts on August 30, following his 7-5 7-5 Rogers Cup final win over Roger Federer.
The Scot retained his title in Toronto after overcoming difficult conditions, with a series of breaks for rain affecting the flow of the match.
Murray says he used the delays to help him sharpen his focus after going into the tournament without a coach following the decision to dispense with Miles Maclagan last month.
“The rain did not help but going into the dressing room gave me time to think,” Murray said.
“It was really tough but I came through in the end.”
Betfred cannot split Murray, Federer and Rafael Nadal for the final tennis major of the year at Flushing Meadows, New York City.
Defending champion Juan Martin Del Potro is 16/1 to triumph again given his string of recent injury problems.
