Davydenko ready for one last push

PA 8074422 Davydenko 300x225 Davydenko ready for one last pushNikolay Davydenko says he will give it everything he’s got when he faces Juan Martin del Potro (4/6 to beat Davydenko in the match prices) in the final of the ATP World Tour Finals.

The Russian had a little over 15 hours to prepare for Saturday’s semi-final against world number one Roger Federer having been on court Friday for his must-win group match with Robin Soderling.

Having secured victory over the Swede the sixth seed (11/4 to beat Del Potro in straight sets in the set betting) then beat Federer 6-2 4-6 7-5 to record his first victory over the Swiss player in 13 attempts.

Davydenko now has a shot at securing the biggest prize in tennis outside of the Grand Slams having come so close 12 months ago, losing in the final to Novak Djokovic.

In his way will be fifth seed Del Potro after he beat Robin Soderling 6-7 (1-7) 6-3 7-6 (7-3) in another breathless semi-final.

After a tough week of tennis Davydenko admits that he is tired, but says he hopes the extra rest he received being in the first of Saturday’s semi-finals might make the difference.

“I was tired, really tired,” said Davydenko.

“Between yesterday and today I was moving a little bit slow, but I was concentrating on every game, every point 100%. Now I have a little bit more time and I hope to be fit for the final.”
