Judd Trump harbours big ambitions for the BGC Masters at Alexandra Palace but knows his first opponent Stuart Bingham will pose a big threat (Trump 1/2, Bingham 6/4 – Match Betting).
The 22-year-old Bristolian has enjoyed a stellar last 12 months, rising to fifth in the world rankings, earning over £400,000 and beating Mark Allen to win the UK Championship last month.
Trump takes on world number 14 Bingham on Monday, admitting his game has “improved by 50 per cent” over the last 12 months, with his confidence also rocketing as a result of his rise to prominence.
He claims him and Bingham both still have “a bit to prove” when it comes to performing at their best on TV and he is hoping to ease his way into the clash to ensure an early exit is not on the cards.
“I’m looking to go a long way in the tournament and get back the buzz that I had at the UK. Being in a big final is completely different to any other match, it’s just a great feeling and brilliant atmosphere,” Trump said.
“I’ll probably edge my way into the match and settle down, hopefully get a lead then I’ll be able to relax and take shots on.”
Also on Monday, 2005 world champion Shaun Murphy takes on Martin Gould (Murphy 4/9, Gould 13/8).
