Wane targets Rhinos win

Shaun Wane 3677249 300x198 Wane targets Rhinos winWigan Warriors head coach Shaun Wane is hoping for his side to secure their first victory of the season when they take on Leeds Rhinos at Saturday (Wigan 8/15, draw 20/1, Leeds 6/4).

The match-up sees a repeat of the Challenge Cup Final last year, when the Warriors won the famous trophy at Wembley before Leeds went on to win the Super League title at Old Trafford.

These two title holders are now preparing for their showdown at the DW Stadium, with Wigan heading into this game on the back of a 20-16 defeat in the opening round at the hands of the Huddersfield Giants.

As for Leeds, they got the defence of their Super League crown off to the perfect start with a comfortable 34-16 victory over Hull KR and will be looking to maintain their 100% on Sunday.

Wane has admitted his side fell short of their high standards last weekend but is looking forward to the big game at the DW Stadium, a week before Leeds take on the Manly Sea Eagles (6/1 NRL Grand Final outright) in the World Club Challenge.

He said: “I know we can perform better than we did last weekend.

“We weren’t at our best but we still only lost by four points and scored three tries to three. The response from our players has been fantastic.”
