Warrington Wolves (15/8 – Regular Season Outright) coach Tony Smith is expecting the unexpected as his side kick off their home Super League campaign against London Broncos.
The Wolves drew their opening Super League match at Hull FC last weekend and Smith has brought Matt Cook and David Howell into the squad for Sunday’s clash at the new-look Halliwell Jones Stadium.
London Broncos lost 82-6 to the Wolves in this fixture last season – when operating under the banner of Harlequins RL – but they looked a much stronger unit when going down 34-24 to St Helens in their opening game and will be out to ruffle some features in the north-west.
Smith admits this fixture should be “certainly different” to that previous clash and he expects hisWarrington players not to be over-awed by the changes both on and off the pitch. (Warrington 1/20, draw 33/1, Broncos 8/1)
He said: “It’s going to make for a great fixture in the fact that we have a bit of an unknown quantity in terms of who we’re playing, but also in terms of stadium atmosphere as I think we all know what to expect; it is going to go up a level or two which we are really excited about.”
The Broncos included seven debutants in their opening clash with St Helens and of them only Liam Colbon is unavailable to face the Wolves on Sunday due to injury.
However, new signing Matt Brook is available for the first time while centre David Howell in back from suspension to take his place in the squad.
