Saints hope for Leeds fatigue

Lance HohaiaSuper League Leaders’ Shield hopefuls St Helens will travel to Leeds (Leeds 8/13, St Helens 13/10, Tie 20/1 – Match Betting 80 Mins) on Friday hoping the home players are still feeling the effects of last weekend’s successful Challenge Cup final exertions against Castleford.

The Saints (EVS Regular Season Winner) need to win two of their remaining games to secure their first silverware since 2008 and a win against the third-placed Rhinos at Headingley will go a long way to helping them achieve that goal.

Coach Nathan Brown will be boosted by the return of Lance Hohaia, who has recovered from a foot injury and will be a replacement for Gary Wheeler, who suffered a groin injury against Wakefield.

James Roby is fit having had to have stitches in a deep gash on his thigh against Wakefield, with Brown set to stick with a similar formula which saw them defeat Wakefield last time out.

“We are not looking to change much,” Brown said.

“It seemed to work the other day, although we know we are going up in class.

“Let’s see how they go. I’ll be disappointed if we don’t improve on last time for a number of reasons.

“One is that we have had two weeks of practice, the other is Lance comes back and he is a key player in a key position and that should help us.”
