Millington hoping for ‘proud’ performance

Grant Millington15954078Castleford Tigers forward Grant Millington has urged his team to make themselves ‘proud’ in Thursday’s play-off tie against Warrington Wolves (1/2 to win, draw 22/1, Castleford 13/8 – match result).

The Tigers (16/1 to win the Grand Final) were embarrassed last week in their first play-off match against St Helens when they lost 41-0 at Langtree Park. They were also below par in the final league game of the season when they lost to Catalan Dragons 28-6, missing out on the League Leaders’ Shield as a result.

Due to the Super League play-off system, the Tigers will get another chance to reach the semi-finals against Warrington and Millington believes it will bring out the best in the squad.

Boss Daryl Powell could recall Marc Sneyd and winger James Clare for the game and Millington has urged his players to give everything as they try to reach a first Grand Final at Old Trafford.

He told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Obviously after a big game like last week, when we had a chance to put ourselves 80 minutes away from a Grand Final, everyone was a bit down.

“But rugby league is one of those games where you have to pick ourselves up, dust yourselves off and get back into it.

“We had a good training session on Monday and a good chat between the players and we all agreed we don’t want to go out of this competition in the manner we played last Friday.

“We want to come out and put in a good performance and makes ourselves proud, our families proud and the town proud.”
