Farrell predicts passion

Liam FarrellWigan Warriors second-row Liam Farrell believes Saturday’s Super League Grand Final meeting with St Helens will be brimming with passion as both sets of players look to put on a show (Match betting – St Helens 2/1 draw 20/1 Wigan 2/5).

Wigan (4/11 to lift the trophy) enjoyed a prosperous season and finished second only to St Helens with both sides looking evenly balanced in the league. The two sides were evenly matched in their two games in the regular campaign as they picked up a win a piece on their travels.

Farrell admits that confidence is high in the Warriors camp and he believes that the title is there for the taking at Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United.

However, the 24-year-old believes they must be wary of strong opposition, who will be looking to upset the apple cart and take their crown.

The two teams have brought through a number of youngsters into the first team squad this term and Farrell expects that having plenty of homegrown talent on show will help to ensure of a good game.

Farrell said: “Saints will be quite confident as they’ve had a good season but we’ve really come to the fore over the past few weeks.

“They’ve got a lot of firepower in the middle of the field and, like us, they like to get on top of their opposition. Whoever dominates will go a long way towards winning the game.

“Like us they’re got some great youngsters and it’s a major selling point for the Grand Final that both sides have plenty of passionate, home-grown players.”
