Anderson eyes Giants response

Paul AndersonHuddersfield Giants head coach Paul Anderson has urged his side to put their heavy defeat to Wigan Warriors behind them when they face Catalans Dragons on Friday night (Huddersfield 2/5, draw 22/1, Catalans 2/1 – Match Betting).

The Giants put in a sorry display in their last Super League play-off outing, as they were overwhelmed by the Warriors, losing 57-4.

However, Huddersfield have a second bite of the cherry when they host the Dragons and will be boosted by the return of playmaker and goalkicker Danny Brough.

Anderson has held clear-the-air talks with his players after the loss to the Warriors and believes the squad are ready to go again against Catalans at the John Smith’s Stadium.

He told the club’s official website: “The result against Wigan was a one-off result, it has very, very rarely happened.

“That being said, we showed great honesty in the following days and made clear intentions as a group by internally naming the team early in the week.

“We can’t let one day upset the rest of the year. Everyone in this squad is committed to the cause.”

Catalans head into this game on the back of a last-gasp 24-20 victory over Challenge Cup winner Leeds Rhinos (4/1 – 2015 Challenge Cup outright) at Headingley and will be full of confidence they can secure another scalp at the home of the Giants to progress further into unfamiliar play-off territory.
