Robinson calls on Scotland to deliver

8549142 300x199 Robinson calls on Scotland to deliverCoach Andy Robinson has said that it is time for Scotland ‘to deliver’ after confirming Ross Ford as his new captain for the upcoming 2012 Six Nations (25/1 Tournament Outright).

Robinson had to draft in Ford as his captain after being hit by the loss of influential Saracens flanker Kelly Brown for the championship as he requires surgery on a knee injury.

However, the former England coach does not want the loss of Brown to be an excuse for his players as he is demanding they continue making strides under his leadership.

Ahead of the Scots’ Six Nations opener against England (Scotland 11/8, England 4/7, Draw 20/1 Match Result) at Murrayfield on February 4 – a repeat of the World Cup pool encounter in New Zealand at the end of last year which England nicked courtesy of a late Chris Ashton try – Robinson also wants a big improvement on the record of two wins from their last 10 Six Nations games.

“It’s time for us to deliver,” Robinson said. “We’ve had a lot of talk about what we can do, our potential, but we haven’t actually delivered results in the Six Nations in the last two years.

“So a big aim for us is to start well and this first game is a key area for us to get our first win.”

Scotland have enjoyed a good home record against the current Six Nations champions, having not tasted defeat since 2004 with two wins and a draw in the last three matches at Murrayfield.
