Wales (15/8 for the Grand Slam) scrum-half Mike Phillips says he and his team are ‘in a good place’ ahead of their match against England at Twickenham, which could go a long way to deciding a possible Grand Slam.
Warren Gatland’s side have made a superb start to the Six Nations beating both Ireland and Scotland in their opening two matches and now face England a week on Saturday in a game which may also determine the Triple Crown.
England themselves have won both of their matches but have struggled for rhythm so far, scraping to victory against both Scotland and Italy – albeit away from home.
Despite their unconvincing performances, many believe the grit shown by Stuart Lancaster’s side could see them go on to win the Championship (England 5/1 Six Nations outright).
Having faced each other three times in the last year, both sides know what to expect from each other.
The Bayonne half-back says his side is confident ahead of the match but knows that it will be a tough test against their English counterparts.
“It doesn’t really matter who is favourite. We will go up there full of confidence and do what we have been doing, which is working hard for each other,” he said. “We are in a good place at the moment.
“They are a new side, so it is important we go up there with a solid defence because they have got some threatening, dangerous players,” he added.
