Lydiate allays Wales fears

Bet on the LionsDan Lydiate has reassured Wales (15/8 Six Nations 2014 outright) fans by stating he will be available to play for the national side despite having joined French outfit Racing Metro this summer.

In the past there have been issues with players plying their trade in the Top 14 being released late for international duty, especially when it comes to the autumn Test matches.

Lydiate has joined the likes of Wales centre Jamie Roberts and Ireland fly-half Jonathan Sexton at Racing Metro (9/2 Top 14 outright), as they look to mount a serious challenge for the Top 14 crown.

The flanker has made sure he has a full release clause in his contract and he will be available for Warren Gatland’s side for the autumn internationals and the Six Nations championship early next year.

Lydiate said: “I spoke to Warren before coming out here.

“I had to make sure I was still available for Wales and I did do that. Hopefully, it will work well, but I am looking forward to playing with a new set of players and with new coaches.

“I just hope if I am playing well enough that they will still pick me. There is a massive onus on myself to make sure I am playing well out here, and if Racing are successful there is a big chance I will still be selected for Wales.”
