Wales (15/8 Grand Slam outright) full-back Leigh Halfpenny has insisted his side are aiming for nothing less than securing the Grand Slam title in this year’s Six Nations campaign.
The Welsh have continued their impressive form from the World Cup in New Zealand last year, where they managed to reach the semi-finals of the tournament for only the second time in their history.
And the Dragons have made a strong start to 2012, with victories over both Ireland and Scotland in Dublin and Cardiff respectively.
Now Wales are looking to secure the Triple Crown as they get set to make the trip across the border to take on England at Twickenham on Saturday (England 13/10, draw 18/1, Wales 8/13).
Halfpenny, who has impressed in the competition so far in a fine Welsh backline, has insisted nothing less than a clean sweep in this Six Nations tournament will do.
The 23-year-old Cardiff star said: “At the end of the day we want to be the best.
“That means winning every single game and achieving the Grand Slam. That is the objective in this tournament – nothing less.
“We are preparing for this tournament as we did the World Cup, which was another tournament we set out to win. We want to be the best, and we set high goals to bring the best out of us.”
