Williams – ‘It’s an exciting time’

Scott Williams, WalesScarlets (33/1 to win the Rabodirect Pro12 Grand Final) centre Scott Williams insists it is an exciting time to be playing for the club as he made his return from injury in a pre-season friendly against Bath on Saturday.

The Wales (14/1 to win the Rugby World Cup in 2015) star had not played since February after he picked up a shoulder injury while tackling Brian O’Driscoll in his side’s heavy Six Nations defeat in Dublin.

Williams last played for the Scarlets in January but he made his competitive return as he captained the Welsh outfit in the second half against Bath.

He showed no signs of nerves as he scored on his return in the 26-26 draw and Williams has now targeted a run in the side ahead of the Rugby World Cup in 2015.

“It was good to get the first game out of the way. I don’t normally get that nervous before a game but it’s been a while since I’ve played but once the game kicked off I was in the game,” he is quoted as saying by WalesOnline.com.

“It was good to play against a strong opposition. You can train against each other as much as you want but you don’t really know what works until you get into the game scenario.

“This was the first game of the season for us. We have next weekend off and I’m sure next week will be tough. It’ll be back to the drawing board on Monday to smooth out some of the stuff that we managed to get wrong but it’s an exciting time. We need to make sure we keep improving until we get to Ulster.”
