Scarlets to welcome back Priestland

Scarlets head coach Simon Easterby will welcome back Rhys Priestland to his side as he looks to overcome Connacht in Sunday’s RaboDirect Pro12 clash in Llanelli (Scarlets 200/1 to win the RaboDirect Grand Final – outright).

The Wales (10/1 to win the 2015 World Cup – outright) fly-half was absent from last week’s 14-6 defeat to Glasgow Warriors due to a dead leg but he is set to return ahead of Sunday’s crucial clash.

Easterby will also call upon international duo Rhodri Jones and Jake Ball due to injuries to prop Samson Lee and lock George Earle. Connacht have no new injury worries and will be unchanged after their bonus-point win over the Dragons last week.

The Irish province are currently just one place and four points worse off than the Scarlets in seventh, and Easterby is expecting a tough game.

He told the South Wales Evening Post: “Earlier in the season Connacht were losing by only a few points, they have started to find their feet under Pat Lam.

“Their scrum and line-out drive has been effective and they gave the Dragons a tough time up front last weekend. They are well equipped with a dangerous young nine, Dan Parks controls things at ten and Henshaw, who was in the Ireland Six Nations squad, is an exciting talent.

“They have a much better mix in their team and if we are indisciplined we will give them exactly what they want. That is a going to be an important factor going into the game.”
