Evans ready for night in Paris

Harlequins fly-half Nick Evans knows his side will have to be at their best if they are to come out on top against Stade Francais in Paris on Friday night (Stade Francais 13/8, draw 18/1, Harlequins 1/2 – Match Betting).

The Aviva Premiership outfit head to the French capital hoping to book their place in the semi-finals of the Amlin Challenge Cup against a Top 14 side who are notoriously difficult to beat on their own patch.

What will give Quins (6/1 – Amlin Challenge Cup outright) hope is that Stade Francais only sit in eighth place in the league table and have struggled to get the better of the big names across the Channel like Toulon and Clermont.

Evans is looking forward to the prospect of taking on the Top 14 side and feels there are many similarities between his own team and their opponents.

He told getwestlondon.co.uk: “They are a quality side, you only have to look at the form they are producing at the moment. In fact, they will probably be the best Stade Francais we have come up against.

“We’ve shown we can beat teams away from home in France against the likes of Toulon, Toulouse, Biarritz and Racing Metro, as well as running Clermont close. We thrive on these sort of games.

“Like us, they like to play with width and tempo, so it will be like playing ourselves. Both teams like to throw the ball around.”
