England must learn – Youngs

Ben Youngs 4122362England (7/2 – 2015 World Cup outright) scrum-half Ben Youngs believes his side will have to learn some serious lessons ahead of the World Cup following their Test series whitewash against New Zealand.

The All Blacks finished the job in the third Test on Saturday with a 36-13 victory in Hamilton to send England home with their tails between their legs after a disappointing first-half performance.

Things did improve in the second half and head coach Stuart Lancaster’s men showed more of the rugby that made the first two Tests against the world champions even contests.

Youngs pulled no punches following the final whistle and believes England must learn from their experiences in New Zealand if they are to challenge the All Blacks (6/4 – 2015 World Cup outright) for the Webb Ellis trophy next year.

He said: “This is an honest group.

“The second half things came off a little bit more but the damage was done. We put in great performances before this but you’ll remember how we did in the last game.

“Unfortunately today puts a dampener on what we did in the first games.

“It’s just tough lessons against these boys. This is a young squad with a World Cup coming up and it’s about getting more and more experience.

“Unfortunately you have to go through these games to get experience.”
