Baxter out to tame the Tigers

Exeter coach Rob BaxterExeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter wants his men to rise to the occasion and entertain the home fans when they face Leicester Tigers on Saturday afternoon (Exeter 6/4, Leicester 8/15, draw 20/1 – Match Prices).

The Devon club will go into the fixture full of confidence having opened their account with a crushing 52-0 victory over London Welsh at the Kassam Stadium last weekend.

They currently sit second in the early Aviva Premiership standings but were joined on five points by Saturday’s opponents, as the Tigers scored four tries in their 36-17 triumph over Newcastle.

Saracens top the table after their 39-0 rout of Harlequins on Friday night but a win for either side at Sandy Park could see them leapfrog Sarries to the summit (Exeter 13/2 6-10 Point Winning Margin.)

Baxter is expecting a tough clash with the Midlands giants but hopes to take the momentum from last week’s victory into the south-west encounter.

“The test for us this week will be to try and keep the same tempo in this game, when it is likely to be an arm-wrestle,” he said.

Exeter have invested in a new state-of-the-art pitch and have improved their stands and facilities in recent times and Baxter wants his charges to rise to the occasion and put on a display worthy of the revamped stadium.

“It will be brilliant,” he added. “We have to make sure we put on a great spectacle for them all and the key is we make sure we come out and play in a way that gives us an opportunity to win.”
