Point to prove for Tomkins

New Zealand half-back Shaun Johnson has added extra spice to their World Cup semi-final against England on Saturday saying that full-back Sam Tomkins has “a point to prove” (New Zealand 2/5, draw 22/1, England 2/1 Match Betting).

The Kiwi’s go into the match with a 100% record in the tournament and, as the leading scoring side, having notched up a cool 186 points so far.

England star Tomkins (9/1 first tryscorer) has yet to cross the try-line in the opening four matches and Johnson believes that his new New Zealand Warriors team-mate will want to show the world what he can really do.

“There has been a lot said about facing Sam and I am sure he will be wanting to prove a point,” Johnson said.

New Zealand defeated England back in 2008 at the same stage of the tournament and Johnson admits he is looking forward to going up against some great players at Wembley.

“You always want to play against the best players in the world,” he said.

“We are getting into the business end of the tournament now and this is where it all counts, so we are ready to go for it.”
