Clark keen to make most of England chance

DarylClarkMan of Steel Daryl Clark is desperate to impress for England at the Four Nations in Australia and New Zealand (England 10/1 – Four Nations 2014 Outright).

Clark, who will join Warrington for the 2015 season, enjoyed a fantastic campaign with Castleford Tigers and has been rewarded with a place in Steve McNamara’s England squad, where he will compete with Cronulla Sharks-bound Josh Hodgson to start at hooker.

Former Hull KR man Hodgson and Clark have been selected as regular hookers James Roby and Michael McIlorum are missing the tour, and the 21-year-old is eager to cement a regular spot in the England side.

“It’s been a good few days and obviously coming here as well and being involved in the England setup it’s been a decent week for me,” Clark told Sky Sports.

“I was pretty surprised. I didn’t really go there expecting it, so to come away with both awards [the Steve Prescott Man of Steel Player of the Year and Young Player of the year awards] was pretty surprising and pretty special as well.

“There’s only me and Josh Hodgson so it’s looking likely that we’ll both play. For me, if I start or come off the bench as long as I play I don’t mind. As long as I get a game I’ll be happy with that.

“To play for your country in a massive tournament it doesn’t really get much better than that. I’m massively looking forward to it.”

England open their Four Nations campaign against Samoa on October 25 in Queensland, before games against 1/5 tournament favourites Australia and New Zealand, who are 5/1 to take the title, with the top two teams set to contest the final on November 15.
