Hauraki relishing Leeds cup battle

Weller Hauraki 19104305Weller Hauraki is looking forward to battling it out with his former club Leeds Rhinos as Castleford Tigers look to secure the Challenge Cup (Castleford 2/1, Leeds 4/11 Tournament Outright) at Wembley on Saturday.

The 29-year-old New Zealander back-row, who has agreed to join Salford Red Devils for the 2015 Super League campaign, is fully focused on the Tigers’ cup mission this weekend.

And it will be all the more sweeter for Hauraki if he can come out on top against the Rhinos (Castleford 21/10, Leeds 2/5, Draw 20/1 Match betting 80 Mins) having departed Headingley for the Tigers at the end of the 2012 season.

Haukari, who was part of the Leeds’ side that lost the 2012 final 35-18 against Warrington, told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “I played against Warrington in 2012 and I was in the squad against Wigan (in 2011), but I didn’t play in that one,” Hauraki told Sky Sports.

“I am over the moon to be going back and I’m really looking forward to the opportunity again to play at Wembley.

“These chances don’t come around very often and all of the boys are looking forward to the game. All the Cas boys were talking at the start of the year and they were saying they only dream of things like this.

“Now the dream has come true for some of these boys and we’re just looking forward to the final. I wouldn’t want to play any other team than Leeds in the final.”
