Robinson takes postives from defeat

Scotland coach Andy Ro8027149 300x211 Robinson takes postives from defeatbinson insisted he could take plenty of positives out of the disappointing 18-9 Six Nations reverse at home to France on Sunday.

Scotland were guilty of wasting several good try-scoring opportunities in the Murrayfield clash as Mathieu Bastareaud ran in two tries for the visitors.

Afterwards Robinson admitted Scotland, whose Six Nations  winner’s odds have now lengthened, had made too many mistakes but stressed there were signs his side can recover from the defeat.

“We conceded two soft scores, and we let them in,” he said.

“If we concede two tries against France, we’re not going to beat anyone. The French were very canny in what they did.

“There are a number of positives we can take from it – we’re finding our way, and I was pleased with Sean Lamont and Johnnie Beattie.”

Robinson, whose side now take on Wales in Cardiff on Saturday, admitted France had played well as they eventually managed a fairly comfortable victory.

He added:  “We had a number of chances and didn’t take them. We got behind them, but it’s what happened after the second and third phase.

“They really scrambled well and cut us off, and we have them too many opportunities in our own half.”
