Adrian Morley insists England expect a tough battle from Wales in their opening Four Nations match (Handicap 3Way – England -36 10/11, Draw -36 16/1, Wales +36 10/11) and says the minnows are “not being written off”.
England will go into Saturday’s match at Leigh as the 1/100 favourites with Betfred to beat Iestyn Harris’ men, many of which are part-time players.
Wales’ key man Lee Briers claimed earlier in the week that they were being ignored in the build-up to the tournament – which kicked off on Friday with a 26-12 win for Australia over New Zealand.
Morley (33/1 First Tryscorer) though insists England, who have won their last seven games against the Welsh, are treating their opponents with respect.
The Warrington star stated: “We’re certainly not writing them off. They’ve got some really tricky players, Lee Briers in particular. We’re preparing for a tough game. If you go into any game under-done you’ll be in for a rude awakening.”
England have named an unchanged side from the team that defeated France in a warm-up game last week, with Leeds prop forward Jamie Peacock captaining the side.
