Johnson wary of desperate Scots

Martin Johnson 300x184 Johnson wary of desperate ScotsCoach Martin Johnson has warned his players they must not underestimate a Scotland team (15/2 to beat England) who he believes will be “desperate” to beat England when the two sides clash in the Six Nations on Sunday.

The Scots head south to Twickenham looking to pick up their first win of the tournament after three disappointing defeats to France, Wales and Ireland.

Andy Robinson’s team were tipped to be the dark horses of the Six Nations before the competition got underway but are currently in danger of picking up the wooden spoon after failing to build on some positive displays in the autumn internationals.

They now face perhaps the toughest test in this year’s Six Nations as they look to dent England’s hopes of winning the Six Nations and end any dream of claiming a first Grand Slam in eight years.

England (4/7 Grand Slam outright) come into the Calcutta Cup clash off the back of a win over France and having dominated the two matches before then against Wales and Italy.

Despite their success in the three previous matches Johnson isn’t getting carried away with his team’s recent form, claiming they cannot look at the game with Scotland as a foregone conclusion.

“For Scotland to come to Twickenham and win would be a big result for them,” Johnson said.

“It is an easy game for them in a way because everyone is talking about us. They will be desperate to get a win, desperate to win at Twickenham and beat England.

“They will be dangerous and we need to get ourselves at the right level. It would be a big result for us if we can win.”
