England back row James Haskell is reportedly set to move to the southern hemisphere after the 2011 World Cup after it was confirmed he is leaving Stade Francais (England 3/1 – To Reach The World Cup Final).
The 26-year-old’s two-year stay in Paris has come to an end and he joins Arnaud Marchois, Ollie Phillips, Hugo Southwell, Noel Oelschig, Juan Leguizamon and Mauro Bergamasco in departing the Top 14 side.
Haskell made the controversial switch to France from Wasps at the end of the 2008/09 season and although it called his international career into question, the flanker still managed to add to his appearance tally under Martin Johnson.
However, a move to Super Rugby – if true – would be another matter altogether given the huge distance and travel required, and so his England days would effectively be over post-New Zealand 2011.
England face Wales (twice) and Ireland in August as they prepare for the trip to the Land of the Long White Cloud for rugby’s showpiece tournament.
New Zealand are the 8/13 favourites to lift the Webb Ellis Trophy at Auckland’s Eden Park on October 12.
Reigning world champions South Africa are 7/1 to become the first country to retain their crown while the winning nation is 1/10 to come from the southern hemisphere.
