Marshall dealt Four Nations blow

3661580 KearneyHalf-back Benji Marshall seems set to miss the Four Nations after he was not included in New Zealand’s train-on squad ahead of the tournament (New Zealand 5/1 – Four Nations outright).

Marshall returned to Rugby League in May with St George Illawarra Dragons following a spell in union with Super Rugby outfit the Blues.

The 29-year-old has been in fairly impressive form for the NRL side but New Zealand coach Stephen Kearney has decided to stick with the half-backs he selected for last year’s World Cup – Shaun Johnson and Kieran Foran.

New Zealand Warriors star Thomas Leuluai is another option at half-back, although he can also play at hooker.

The Kiwis will be without Warriors utility man Ben Henry and Penrith Panthers stand-off Isaac John for the Four Nations due to respective knee and Achilles injuries.

New Zealand open their Four Nations account against Australia in Brisbane on October 25.

The final will be played in Wellington, New Zealand, on November 15.

Australia are 1/5 to win the Four Nations, England can be backed at 10/1 and Samoa are 100/1.
