Davies ready for Biarritz battle

Gloucester (9/1 – Amlin Challenge Cup outright) director of rugby Nigel Davies believes it will be an electric atmosphere at Kingsholm when his side host Biarritz in the Amlin Challenge Cup on Thursday night.

The Cherry and Whites go into the European clash on the back of a superb 17-15 victory over English champions Harlequins in their last Aviva Premiership outing.

But the win came at a price as Scotland second rower Jim Hamilton picked up an ankle injury during the clash with Quins, although Gloucester will be boosted by the return of former England centre Mike Tindall.

Henry Trinder will partner Tindall in the middle of the back-line in front of what should be a packed house at Kingsholm for the quarter-final showdown.

Davies is relishing the European night to come and is hoping his side can continue their decent form to get one over on Biarritz (16/1 – Amlin Challenge Cup outright).

He told the club’s official website: “Night games create a real element of theatre at Kingsholm I think, it really changes the atmosphere and adds an extra layer of drama.

“There’s a real buzz about the club. We’ve worked very hard to get this home quarter-final against one of the premier teams in European rugby.

“We’ll be kicking off the quarter-final stages, the first televised game, so it’s really exciting for us.”
