Park blow for United

Manchester United will be without Park Ji-Sung for a crucial period of the season as he has been ruled out for four weeks with a hamstring injury (United 8/15 to win Premier League).

The South Korea international was recently absent for four weeks at the Asian Cup in Qatar and had only just returned to Old Trafford, but he looks set to miss at least another four matches, including the Champions League last-16 first-leg encounter with Marseille (United 11/10 to beat Marseille).

The Red Devils’ next fixture is a fifth round FA Cup clash with non-League Crawley Town, but then it gets a bit more serious with trips to Marseille, Wigan and Chelsea in February.

Liverpool visit the Theatre of Dreams on March 6 and it appears touch-and-go as to whether the hard-working midfielder will be back for the clash with Kenny Dalglish’s men.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the injury news and admitted it is a real setback to their three-pronged attack on silverware.

“It was very unfortunate because it was his last kick of the ball in training as well,” he told the club’s official website.

“We were really looking forward to having him back after being away for a month at the Asian Cup. He’ll be out for up to a month, which is a blow to us.”

Park has been crucial to United’s success this term with his versatility allowing Ferguson to use him out wide as cover for the injured Antonio Valencia and the Asian star rarely disappoints.

But the news on the Ecuadorian is now much more encouraging and he should be back to bolster the ranks for the run-in to the end of the season.
