Arsenal (12/1 Premier League outright) boss Arsene Wenger has insisted his star playmaker Samir Nasri may well feature against Liverpool on Saturday, despite a move to Manchester City reportedly imminent for the French international.
City are believed to be on the verge of signing the 24-year-old, with Blues boss Roberto Mancini keen to complete the deal before the end of the summer transfer window.
Nasri, who only has a year reaming on his current deal at the Emirates, has been named in the squad for Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool in north London this weekend (Arsenal 6/4, draw 9/4, Liverpool 2/1).
After a lacklustre performance in the goalless draw with Newcastle United on the opening day of the season, Wenger could look to call on the services of Nasri, as the Gunners go in search for their first win of the Premier League campaign.
He said: “One thing I don’t question at all is the commitment of Samir Nasri for this club.
“Transfers can happen, we are professional people, but every day since he has arrived here and every day in pre-season, he has worked with fantastic spirit in training.
“The only thing I can say is that Nasri is in the squad tomorrow and available to be picked and play.”
