Red Bull driver Mark Webber (10/1 F1 Championship 2012) has insisted he is already looking ahead to the Formula One campaign next year as he hopes to claim that elusive first world title.
The 35-year-old’s future has been the subject of plenty of speculation, with a sometimes fractured relationship with the Milton Keynes-based outfit making the headlines.
Webber put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension earlier this year and has dispelled rumours he is considering retirement.
The Australian ace said: “2011 is over, in my view, so it will be nice to start to recharge soon, to spend some time with the family and relax. But I know that I won’t do that for long.
“I get quite impatient to go back racing. Three or four weeks is the limit before I start to get itchy feet so I’m really looking forward to how next year’s car is going to roll out.”
Webber has been somewhat in the shadow of team-mate Sebastian Vettel (11/8 F1 Championship 2012), who secured his second consecutive world title last season.
The veteran will be hoping to compete with the talented German next year as they get set for a new campaign, which starts with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 18.
