Nico Rosberg has said he ‘can feel his ambition’ when reflecting on Ross Brawn’s efforts to try and get Mercedes back in the mix for success (33/1 Formula One Constructors Championship 2012) in the coming campaign.
Rosberg joined the Mercedes team back in 2010 and has yet to win a grand prix, but he is confident that the work Brawn has done over the close-season to enhance the technical team should come to fruition this year.
Before being taken over by Mercedes, Brawn won the constructors championship as recently as 2009 when they capitalised on a change in the rules to start the season with the dominant car.
It proved to be a very successful year as Jenson Button went on to win the drivers’ crown before eventually departing to McLaren.
However, Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari have all surpassed Mercedes in the following two seasons. But Rosberg (50/1 Formula One Drivers Championship 2012) firmly believes that Brawn will ensure they will be regulars on the podium this tme around.
“He knows what we need in order to be the best team,” Rosberg told Auto Motor und Sport. “There were many competent people already who had just not yet grown together properly, while not everyone was sitting in the right places. That process has taken place now.
“In Bob Bell, Geoff Willis and Aldo Costa, we also have three new top people on board, and I believe very strongly in Ross. You can feel his ambition.”
