Red Bull duo relishing Suzuka

Red BullSebastian Vettel (12/1 Japanese GP outright) and Daniel Ricciardo are both excited at the prospect of returning to Suzuka ahead of next week’s Japanese Grand Prix.

The Red Bull pairing were both full of praise for both the Suzuka circuit and the knowledgeable Japanese crowd, with Vettel in particular holding fond memories of track.

The reigning world champion has won on four occasions at Suzuka, including when he clinched the Drivers’ Championship in 2011.

He said: “Suzuka as a whole is a fantastic circuit, probably the only circuit you can compare it to on the calendar is Spa. It is a very challenging circuit, especially the first sector where there is a lot of high speed corners.”

Ricciardo (10/1 Japanese GP outright) has had less success in Japan on what will be his fourth visit to the circuit, but he too is full of praise for the experience the track offers and will be buoyed by an impressive season that sees him ahead of Vettel in the overall standings and with three race victories to his name.

“It’s a dream. You have those fast changes of directions through the Esses, hard around the Dunlop Curve and then, arguably the best bit, turns eight and nine: Degner.”

If the Red Bull pair are to win next week they will have to get past Mercedes pairing Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, with championship leader Hamilton starting as 4/6 favourite to claim the chequered flag.
