Vettel won’t take foot off the gas

Sebastian Vettel says there will be no let up from Red Bull or himself this weekend as they look for a fourth straight win at the Indian Grand Prix (Vettel 11/10 race winner).

The German driver has been the man to beat in Formula 1 for the last few months, winning the last three races as he propelled himself to the top of the standings.

Many drivers have conceded in the build-up to this weekend’s race that Vettel now has the fastest car in the RB8 and the 25-year-old is 1/4 to win a third consecutive Drivers’ Championship.

While Vettel only has a six point lead at the top of the standings it looks as though it will take a super human effort from Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso to overhaul his rival in the final four races.

Despite all the signs indicating 2012 will be Red Bull’s year again, Vettel is keen to keep his focus on the job at hand.

The two-time world champion is refusing to get carried away with his recent displays and wants the whole team to concentrate on the Indian Grand Prix, rather than look too far ahead.

“We still do not know what is going to happen heading into the weekend. I think the last couple of races we were happier with the car but we all know how quickly things can change so therefore there is no guarantee and no time to rest,” he told Sky Sports.

“So, we have to keep pushing and hopefully we can use the momentum to pick up a positive result.”

Vettel took maximum points in India last year, leading home Jenson Button in second and Alonso in third.
