Perez targets podium

Sergio PerezForce India driver Sergio Perez (150/1 – German GP Outright) is confident that the team can start to improve and challenge at the top of the grid on a consistent basis.

The Mexican has only managed to finish on the rostrum once this season with a third-place finish in Bahrain in the third meeting of the campaign.

Perez has managed a sixth place result in Austria though, a display which highlighted the class of the 24-year-old having agonisingly missed out in Canada before that race after crashing with Williams Felipe Massa on the final lap.

The Mexican only moved to Force India this year having endured a torrid time at McLaren in 2013 when replacing Lewis Hamilton, but despite not earning consistent points he has produced some good performances.

Perez is hopeful that he can start to challenge for more podium positions, starting with the German Grand Prix on Sunday.

He said: “I’d like to score some more podiums. I believe we can do it as a team, so hopefully in the next races we can score a podium.”

Team-mate Nico Hulkenberg may not have earned a top-three spot this season but the German has been very consistent so far this year having finished in the top-10 in every race so far, with a fifth-place in Malaysia, Bahrain, Monaco and Canada his joint-best result.

Lewis Hamilton will be looking to build on his British Grand Prix victory last time out and the Mercedes driver is 8/15 to claim back-to-back successes.

Defending champion Sebastian Vettel will be hoping to use the home support to his advantage and the Red Bull star is 33/1 to clinch victory in Germany in what has been a frustrating season to date.
