Horner plays down Vettel exit

Ahead of the European Grand Prix in Valencia on Sunday, Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has insisted that driver Sebastian Vettel (5/6 European GP outright) is not set for an imminent move to rivals Ferrari.

The defending world champion has continued to be linked with a move away from the Milton Keynes-based outfit, with Ferrari reportedly the frontrunners to secure the German’s services.

Brazilian racer Felipe Massa looks set to lose his seat with the Italian team, having failed to impress for well over a year on the Formula One circuit.

However, Horner has insisted Vettel will not be partnering Fernando Alonso (33/1 European GP outright) next season and that his driver is fully committed to Red Bull.

He told Sky Sports News: “Sebastian is really happy in the team, he’s an important part of this team and he will be driving one of our cars for the foreseeable future.

“There’s always going to be speculation regarding drivers and movements of drivers and contracts, which always obviously remain totally confidential.”

Vettel will be looking to become the first driver this season to secure a second chequered flag and the defending champ will be on pole for Sunday’s meeting.
