Rosberg records maiden win

Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg (16/1 World Drivers – Championship outright) looks set to become a force in this season’s Formula One championship, having secured the first win of his career at the Chinese Grand Prix.

The German led from start to finish, claiming the chequered flag in the third race of the season with a dominant performance in Shanghai to withstand challenges from McLaren’s Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, who finished second and third respectively.

Mercedes did not have it all their own way, as seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher was forced to retire on the 12th lap, after his front-right wheel was not securely tightened in the pits, which forced the German out of race.

However, the day was all about Rosberg (10/1 – Bahrain GP outright) who was delighted with the win and he will be looking to make it back-to-back victories at the Bahrain Grand Prix next weekend.

He said: “Unbelievable feeling, very cool, very happy, very excited. It’s been a long time coming for me and the team also.

“It’s amazing and it’s really nice to see how quickly we are progressing, I didn’t expect to be that fast.”
