Hamilton positive on title hopes

Lewis Hamilton (7/4 – Drivers’ Championship outright) has admitted that Nico Rosberg was too strong for him and his rivals as the German stormed to his first Grand Prix victory in China.

After qualifying on pole, the German dominated the race from the start to finish and Hamilton was full of praise for his performance after the race.

“We knew Nico would be really quick, and we knew if he got away it would be hard to catch him as it proved,” Hamilton said. “First pole and first win is always special so congratulations.”

Hamilton (9/4 to win the next race in Bahrain) was in the thick of the action throughout the race as he looked to make-up the places he lost on Saturday, after being demoted to seventh on the grid due to a gearbox change.

The 2008 World Champion won last year’s race in Shanghai and despite his lowly position on the grid, came through to finish third and move to the top of the Drivers’ Championship.

After starting seventh, Hamilton was understandably delighted with his result and says it has shown him his first win of the season won’t be too far away.

“We will keep pushing on to get some better results,” he added. “It’s a positive to have the consistency and if I can keep working as hard as I am then I am sure the wins will come.”
