AC Milan coach Leonardo admits keeping a clean sheet against Manchester United on Tuesday evening (Under 2.5 goals is 4/7 with Betfred) could be crucial to their chance of Champions League progression.
The Premier League champions have never previously scored against Milan at the San Siro and the Brazilian is seeking another shut out in the first-leg encounter.
Milan have currently the second best defensive record, behind Inter, in Serie A having conceded only 24 goals in 23 league games this season – but Leonardo does not want their attacking play to suffer in the last-16 tie.
They will have to keep 23-goal Wayne Rooney (6/5 to score at anytime on Tuesday) at bay, although the England international is still seeking his first Champions League goal of this campaign.
Leonardo admitted: “Not conceding is always an objective but we are also a team who try to score goals and to change our identity gets complicated. To try and find the balance between not conceding and to hurt them I believe is ideal.”
