Mancini could let stars leave

Shay Given, Robinho and Roque Santa Cruz have been told that they can leave Manchester City (9/1 to win 2010-11 Premier League) if they desire.

Earlier this week, City manager Roberto Mancini admitted he would allow Given to leave after favouring Joe Hart for the opening Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday. Hart went on to put in an imperious display, keeping a clean sheet in the process, and looks like he has cemented the number one jersey.

The Italian has now backed up this statement by saying he would not stand in the way of Robinho or Santa Cruz should they want to leave, although he was also quick to point out that he values their services.

Robinho could be bound for Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Schalke and Mancini has admitted that his move could be completed within the next ‘five or six days’.

Meanwhile, Santa Cruz could make his way to London as both Fulham, managed by ex-City boss Mark Hughes, and West Ham are thought to be interested in the Paraguay striker.

Speaking in the Times, Mancini stated his belief that he wanted his players to be happy. He said; “If Robinho, Shay or Roque want to stay, I’m happy because they are fantastic players, but it is most important the players are happy.”

City face FC Timisoara in the first leg of their Europa League qualifying playoff this evening and are aiming to progress to the group stages of the competition (Timisoara 5/1, Draw 14/5, Manchester City 4/7 – Match Betting).
