Craig Levein has confirmed experienced duo Kenny Miller and David Weir are certain starters in Scotland’s opening Euro 2012 qualifier in Lithuania on Friday (Lithuania 9/5, Scotland 6/4 to win).
Levein has yet to name his full starting XI for the game but he has admitted the Rangers pair will be on from the start as the Scots look to kick-off their campaign with a win .
Miller, who has scored five goals in three games for Rangers so far this season, has got the nod up front while 40-year-old Weir will marshall the back-line (Miller 13/2 to score first, Weir 40/1).
“One of the important things is to pick players in form,” Levein said. “Kenny Miller would probably have played anyway but he will play on Friday. It’s good to know he’s in form.
“Davie Weir is probably the best centre-back we have got at this time,” Levein added.
“He is playing week in, week out at the highest level and playing to such a standard that this type of football is something he can cope with easily.”
Levein also called up Jay McEveley and Garry O’Connor on Tuesday, but he will be without Steven Fletcher as the Wolves striker recovers from a foot injury.
