Roulez Cool (3/1 favourite ante-post) has a gluteal muscle injury but remains on course for the Christie’s Foxhunter Chase at the Cheltenham Festival on Friday 19 March, according to owner and trainer Robert Waley-Cohen.
Waley-Cohen reported the seven-year-old, who has won a couple of times in point-to-point company, had a setback on Monday and will now be put on the “easy list” for the next two days.
However, Waley-Cohen, while concerned the injury will mean a rethink to his preparations, is optimistic his charge will be ready for the Cheltenham Festival amateurs’ event on Friday week (Baby Run 11/2 second favourite).
He said: “Cheltenham is still absolutely where we are aiming, but he has had a setback and will be on the easy list for 48 hours.”
He added: “Obviously with Cheltenham only a week away it is not perfect as we won’t be able to do exactly what we want to do with him.
“Cheltenham is the plan, we just wanted everyone to know there has been this interruption to his training.”
