Tiger flawless in Florida

Former world number one Tiger Woods (Evs Arnold Palmer Invitational outright) enjoyed an impressive bogey-free round of 65 to join Charlie Wi at the top of the leaderboard at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The American, who has been struggling with an Achilles injury over recent weeks, hit seven birdies to take his place alongside his fellow frontrunner from Korea in the superb conditions at Bay Hill.

Woods is going in search of his seventh title at the course and was pleased with his work on the greens and the fact his Achilles has not caused him too many problems in Florida so far.

The 14-time major winner said: “I’ve been getting treatment and everything is moving properly. No swelling, so everything is good.

“I putted well. I didn’t feel I hit it all that great, but the good thing is my misses are better and I played smart.”

As the event heads into the weekend, Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell (13/2 Arnold Palmer Invitational outright) is just a shot behind Woods and Wi on nine under par, as he managed to turn around a slow start on his second round to record a superb score of 63.
