Rose ready to face top stars

Justin Rose (16/1 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship outright) believes this week’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship provides him with the perfect opportunity to prove he’s good enough to compete with the likes of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

After a decade of solid performances on both sides of the Atlantic, the Englishman enjoyed a watershed year in 2012, winning the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral and playing a leading role in Europe’s final day comeback in the Ryder Cup.

This has understandably heightened the 32-year-old’s ambitions and he is now being tipped as a leading contender for Major titles.

This week’s event in Abu Dhabi is the first time the majority of the game’s top stars have met in 2013 and it’s sure to provide some indication of who to look out for over the next few months.

Rose (28/1 Masters outright) is understandably excited to get his season underway and is relishing the opportunity to prove that he is good enough to compete with the best.

“I think status is something I’m a long way from but I believe my game is not that far at all,” he said on Wednesday. “I know what I need to improve and I know how I’m going to do it and I back myself and I feel comfortable standing up in that situation now and believing that I have the tools and the skills to compete.”
